I love cast iron. It has so many benefits.

If cured correctly it is nonstick. They add iron to your food. You can use it in the oven or on the stove without worry. It is chemical free and easy to clean, not to mention it lasts FOREVER…

In fact, none of these pieces are new. They have been collected with love and their history is part of their charm.

One piece is a “cowboy bean pot” probably from the late 1800’s, but the one I cherish most is the Dutch oven I acquired from a lady in her 80’s. It was getting too heavy for her so she was reluctantly letting it go.

I promised her I would take care of it as she cradled it with both hands….it was her grandmother’s.

I can’t help but imagine all the amazing meals throughout the years that have simmered in these pots to nourish their families.
